Rope wants dry handling and patient cleaning. Leather wants occasional nourishment, not drowning in product. Your bag is built from both — treat each fiber on its terms and the piece will soften into your routine instead of fighting it.
Daily habits
Brush off dust with a dry soft cloth. Keep pens capped and liquids sealed inside pouches. Alternate shoulders on long walks so strap wear stays even. Store stuffed in the dust bag when you travel — empty bags collapse; lightly filled bags keep their intended geometry.
When rope meets moisture
Spot clean with a barely damp cloth; never saturate the coil. Air-dry away from direct heat or sun. Prolonged rain is not a friend to cotton rope or leather — if you live in a wet climate, plan a weather-appropriate carry day or protect the piece under a coat.
Leather trims once a season
A small amount of quality leather conditioner on a clean cloth, worked in gentle circles on handles and bases, is enough. If you are unsure about a product, write to us before experimenting — we would rather answer twice than see a solvent strip years of patina.
